Smart Symbols Team

Smart Symbols started from the observation that pre-school teachers are faced with ever increasing expectations while having little or no modern supportive tools to their availability.
The age from 2 to 8 years is a crucial learning phase and deserves more recognition and attention because it lays the foundation for lifelong learning, social skills, and emotional development.

Join the team, and help us close the gap.

With a modern software platform, we map out the development of young children in a simple and comprehensive way, and provide clear insights to support teachers in guiding much more effectively and taking targeted action.

Sales Representative

About the role

As a Sales Representative at Smart Symbols, you'll be the first person schools meet on their journey with us. You'll proactively engage with teachers, ICT coordinators, and school leaders, listening to their challenges and showing how Smart Symbols helps them save time, reduce admin stress, and focus on what matters most: supporting young children's growth.

You'll own the full sales cycle: from prospecting and building relationships, to delivering demos, handling multiple stakeholders, negotiating, and closing deals. You'll also partner closely with marketing to make sure schools experience a smooth journey from first contact to long-term adoption.

Your main market will be Belgium, but you'll also play a role in our exciting European expansion.

Key responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and engage new schools through outbound outreach, networking, and event participation.
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, ICT coordinators, and school leaders to uncover needs and decision-making processes.
  • Deliver compelling product demos and presentations tailored to different stakeholders.
  • Manage the full sales pipeline: prospecting, qualification, demos, negotiation, and closing.
  • Keep our CRM (HubSpot) fully up to date, ensuring accurate tracking of leads, opportunities, and deals.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed sales targets by driving adoption and expansion of Smart Symbols in schools.
  • Collaborate with marketing on campaigns and lead generation initiatives.
  • Ensure a smooth and positive customer experience beyond the sale.
  • Share market insights to shape our product and sales strategy.

Profile

  • Proven experience in sales (EdTech, SaaS, or education-related industry preferred).
  • A go-getter attitude: proactive, persistent, and motivated by achieving results.
  • Self-starter, autonomous and with a growth mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to adapt to different stakeholders (from teachers to directors).
  • Strong team player: you thrive in collaboration but can also drive progress independently.
  • Analytical and strategic thinker with a knack for “connecting the dots” between needs and solutions.
  • Passionate about education and technology.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage a dynamic pipeline.
  • Fluency in Dutch + English; French and other European languages are a bonus.
  • Experience with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred).
  • Based in/around Ghent, with openness to some international travel.
